MANITOBA SENDING FIREFIGHTERS TO BATTLE BLAZE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

Manitoba is sending help to British Columbia after wildfires rage across that province.

On Tuesday July 11, 2017 the province announced that it would be sending 13 trained firefighters and 50 pumps to support British Columbia’s in their effort to contain the blazes.

The province also announced that they will be sending one air-attack officer to the Northwest Territories to assist with co-ordination of firefighting efforts in that region.

Manitoba and other jurisdictions work together and offer each other whatever support they can during major events like wildfires. The crew leaving for BC will not effect the ability for Manitoba to provide the necessary protection at home should the need arise.

It is expected that the Manitoba crew will arrive on the west coast later this week.
