Manitoba sees 14 more COVID-19 deaths and 221 new cases

Manitoba Public Health announced that as of 9:30 am today there are 221 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and an additional 14 deaths including:

  • a female in her 30s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 50s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 50s from the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • a male in his 60s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Interlake-Eastern health region, linked to the outbreak at the Kin Place;
  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Maples Long Term Care Home;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg;
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Charleswood Care Centre;
  • a female in her 100s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at the Maples Long Term Care Home.

The current provincial five-day test positivity rate is 13 per cent. The test positivity rate in Winnipeg is 13.2 per cent. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 22,047.

The data shows that of today’s cases, 21 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 51 from Northern health region, 11 from the Prairie Mountain Health region, 27 from Southern Health region and 111 from the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 314 people being treated in hospital for the virus including 42 who are being treated in intensive care.

As of today 537 Manitobans have died from COVID-19.

There are currently 5,829 active cases. 15,681 people are listed as recovered.

There were 2,235 tests processed yesterday bringing the total number of tests since February to 396,779.

Outbreaks have been declared at the Portage District General Hospital Medical Unit in Portage la Prairie and Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg in Winnipeg.
