Province pulls “demeaning’ ads intended to recruit nurses

The province has pulled a series of ads that were intended to recruit nurses after receiving major blowback from the nurses union as well as on social media.

The ads depict nurses, while wearing scrubs, getting facials, doing yoga, snowshoeing and hiking along with her family. In each ad the copy says “Join Manitoba’s nurses. Expand your career, reach your potential and have time left to explore what Manitoba has to offer.”

The Manitoba Nurses Union took to Facebook on Thursday afternoon to say that that the ads are tone deaf and demeaning to women and nurses.

Yeah… this is odd

On Thursday evening Manitoba’s Health Minister, Cameron Friesen took to twitter to agree with the opponents and announced he was having the ads pulled.

By Friday morning the ads had been deleted on social media
