During Question Period fire bells began to ring and MLAs were told by Speaker of the House Myrna Dreidger of a possible security breach that had occurred. She recessed the house and asked MLAs to exit the building.
Winnipeg Police, including members of the Tactical Support Team, set up a perimeter around the building.
Hundreds of civil servants, politicians and guests stood on the lawn as the investigation of the building was underway.
