Manitoba Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre issued a flood watch and high water advisory for southwestern, western and central regions of the province.
Over the next several days, beginning this afternoon, storm systems moving into Manitoba are expected to bring 75 to 100 millimetres of rain. Areas in southwest Manitoba near Virden and Brandon could see as much as 175 millimetres ov the same time frame.
It is possible that low-lying areas will see overland flooding, small streams and creeks could spill over their banks. Major Rivers like the Assiniboine and Souris are expected to remain within their banks as well in most areas.
The province is warning property owners to take precautions as water levels could rise quickly in some areas.
