A Manitoba Hydro employee lost their life while working at a site in the Interlake region on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The employee was performing tasks related to a power outage when the fatality occurred.
Manitoba Hydro President and CEO Allan Danroth expressed sorrow over the loss. “Our deepest sympathies go out to the individual’s loved ones, friends, and coworkers,” said Danroth. “We are devastated to lose a member of our Manitoba Hydro family. The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority, and we are committed to fully investigating the cause of this tragedy.”
While the cause of the fatality is still under investigation, Manitoba Hydro has assured the public that there is no risk to public safety. The company is fully cooperating with the appropriate authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Hydro said in a media release that out of respect for the family and to support them during this difficult time, the name of the deceased employee has not been released.
