Manitoba hires G4S Security to enforce public health orders

The Manitoba government has hired a private security company to increase enforcement efforts over public health orders.

Premier Brian Pallister announced on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 that G4S Security will provide about 90 personnel to increase the number of people enforcing COVID-19 restrictions.

G4S provides services in more than 100 countries and currently provides parking enforcement for the City of Winnipeg.

“The vast majority of Manitobans are stepping up and following the fundamentals to protect themselves, their loved ones and their community. We’re targeting those who refuse to follow public health advice and put others at risk,” said Pallister. “Today is another step in our enforcement efforts to help protect our most vulnerable Manitobans and ensure our health-care system is there for all Manitobans, when they need it.”

G4S Security officers began enforcement today and will be at full complement once more of their staff complete specialized training being provided by Commissionaires Manitoba.
