The Manitoba government is gearing up for a possible postal disruption on September 26, 2018.
As part of the plan, the province will be mailing employment and income assistance cheques for October early to ensure they get delivered prior to any disruption in mail delivery.
If you receive your cheque by direct deposit you will not be affected.
Approximately 50,000 cheques are mailed out every month.
If a postal disruption does occur the province will be opening distribution centres in order for future cheques to be picked up.
