The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating after an allegation was made that an on-duty Manitoba First Nations Police Service officer assaulted a person while he was being transported to a detachment.
According to the IIU, On January 1, 2022, MFNPS responded to a residence and determined that a male suspect was under arrest. The suspect was taken into custody. On January 2nd the male in custody reported to an officer that he had been assaulted.
The IIU was contacted and determined that it is in the public interest for the IIU to investigate.
