Manitoba extends state of emergency for 30 days

Manitoba has once again extended the provincewide state of emergency. Under legislation the government can only declare a state of emergency up to 30 days at a time but has the ability to renew the orders monthly for as long as needed.

The state of emergency was first declared on March 20, 2020 and has been renewed every month since.

“Extending Manitoba’s state of emergency is a preventative measure to help reduce the introduction and transmission of COVID-19 and its variants. We will remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of all Manitobans,” said Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler, minister responsible for the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization

It is expected that a state of emergency will continue to be renewed for the foreseeable future.

The current state of emergency came into effect at 4:00 pm on March 3, 2021 and is set to expire in 30 days.
