Manitoba extends state of emergency

For the twelfth month since the Coronavirus pandemic was declared Manitoba has announced that the province will remain in a state of emergency.

First declared on March 20, 2020 and extended every month since the state of emergency gives the government special powers to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This extension marks the one-year implementation of Manitoba’s state of emergency and has been the longest period in a state of emergency in the province’s history,” said Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler, minister responsible for the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization.

The extension of the state of emergency is effective today. February 2, 2021 at 4:00 pm.
