If you are a repeat offender who ignores COVID-19 public health orders you will see the fines doubled on your next infraction of the restrictions.
On Friday, May 7, 2021, Premier Brian Pallister announced the increased fines and noted that default payment fees for failing your tickets on time will also double.
Pallister said “You will pay your fine, and if you do not, you will not be driving your car. We will not issue you a driver’s license. You can put your car up on blocks, and you can leave it there until you pay your fine and if you don’t drive, we will garnish your wages, you will pay”
Since April 2020 more than 4,000 warnings and nearly 1,300 tickets have been issued totalling close to $2 million in fines.
“Just this past week alone COVID Enforcement officers inspected over 4,000 different locations around the province to ensure compliance with COVID prevention orders,” said Pallister.
The premier noted that”There is a small selfish minority of people who aren’t doing their part and in doing so are putting the health of themselves and others at risk.”
