Those needing a COVID-19 test may have to wait in line for hours and wait as many as four days or longer to get results.
On Thursday, December 23, 2021, the province put out a notice saying that COVID-19 test sites in Winnipeg and across the province are seeing a high volume of Manitobans. This has resulted in Manitoba reaching its capacity to process specimens at facilities in the province.
The province says that the backlog of tests that need to be processed is more than 7,500 and as a result the number of reported cases of the virus is below the actual case count.
Public health is asking only people who are experiencing COVID-19, cold or flu-like symptoms to seek testing.
