The provincial government announced on Wednesday April 8, 2020, that all festivities planned to celebrate Manitoba 150 have been postponed until 2021 due to concerns surrounding social distancing during the Coronavirus pandemic.
“As Manitobans, we all love our beautiful summers and we were looking forward to celebrating Manitoba’s 150th anniversary, but right now, health and safety must come first,” said Premier Brian Pallister. “We know this is a difficult time for Manitobans, but we will get through this. We look forward to the days when we can reunite with our friends and neighbours to keep celebrating our great province.”
All remaining events and public activities that were part of the Manitoba 150 celebrations will be postponed.
The province said that funding to support community projects and events will remain in place. Those e=vents will only go forward once Manitoba Public Health determines it is safe to once again hold large public gatherings.
