A manhunt is underway in Chemawawin Cree Nation after a brutal assault left a woman with severe injuries. The incident occurred on July 16, 2024, at a residence in the community.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were alerted to the situation when the victim, an adult female, was brought to the local Nursing Station. She was subsequently transported to a Winnipeg hospital, where she remains while recovering.

The RCMP launched an immediate investigation into the incident, identifying 26-year-old Jeremy Lachose as a suspect. Despite extensive patrols and searches, Lachose has not yet been located. He is now wanted on multiple charges, including two counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault While Choking, Assault, two counts of Uttering Threats Against a Person, and Forcible Confinement.
Lachose is believed to still be in the Chemawawin Cree Nation area. He is identifiable by a distinctive neck tattoo featuring flowers and a cross. Authorities have warned the public not to approach him and to contact the police immediately if he is spotted.
