Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a fire on Mapleton Drive near Neville Street Monday evening, September, 23, 2019.
WFPS District Chief Brent Cheater told News 4 that the back deck was fully involved with fire when crews arrived and a defensive attack was launched turning into an offensive attack shortly afterward.
“Crews made an aggressive attack on the outside and made an interior attack from the front side of the house as well and within about 20 minutes had the fire under control,” said Cheater.
No one was injured during the blaze. The only person in the home at the time of the fire was able to get out of the house before emergency crews arrived on scene.
Cheater says that there is extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of the residence.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
