RCMP confirmed on Friday, September 1, 2023, that the body of missing canoeist Abraham Beardy was pulled from God’s River in the afternoon on Thursday, August 31.
Beardy and an adult female had been on the river in a canoe on August 25 when the canoe tipped. The female was able to make it to shore but at the time it was unknown if Beardy did.
Police and community members searched the area on foot, on the water and in the air but were not able to locate him.
Police say that an autopsy has been ordered to determine Beardy’s cause of death.
RCMP along with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to investigate.
