Man wanted on a warrant threatens to kill police

A 37-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant was arrested on Dakota Tipi First Nation on September 4, 2023, after officers received a tip on the man’s location.

An officer found the man riding a bicycle on the First Nation and told him he was under arrest. The man pulled out a knife, pointed it at the officer and threatened to kill him. The officer drew his service gun and told the man to stop advancing. The officer then called for additional officers to back him up. The suspect fled on his bike. The officer followed and witnessed the suspect throw the knife away into the bush.

Eventually the suspect got off his bike and ran away on foot. Officers chased the man who challenged them to a fight. Police used a taser and were able to take the man into custody after a brief struggle.

The knife was located by a police dog and handler.

Curtis Pashe was charged for his involvement with Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Fail to Comply x2.

He was remanded into custody.
