Female charged with weapons, drugs and obstruction offences
Winnipeg Police are searching for a man wanted on a number of drug and weapons offences.
On July 10th, 2017, around 9:30 am., an officer in the area of Redwood Avenue and Powers Street saw a male suspect in a taxi.
The officer pulled the taxi over in the 700 block of Redwood Avenue. The suspect bolted and ran to a residence nearby. A WPS officer chased after the man and tried to put him into custody. The man broke free splashing the officer with hot coffee and pushing him down a set of stairs.
As the physical altercation continued a loaded firearm and a set of handcuffs fell out of the bag around the suspect’s neck. At this point in the struggle, a woman from the residence came outside and the suspect passed her the bag as he fled.
The woman was placed under arrest.
The bag was searched and contained drugs with a street value of more than $11,500
Lyric Charisse Laye, 25, from Selkirk, has been charged with a number of firearm and drug-related offences, as well as obstructing a peace officer.
She was detained in custody.
The male suspect has been identified as Dallas Tyler Friesen, 33, from Winnipeg.
Police have issued a warrant for his arrest on a number of drug and weapons offences.
He is described as a Caucasian male, 6’1″ in height, approximately 231 lbs., with a medium build. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
Police advise that Friesen should not be approached under any circumstances. If you see him or know where he is hiding call 911
