Manitoba First Nations Police responded to a disturbance call at a home on Swan Lake First Nation on October 7, 2020.
As the officers arrived on the scene they were confronted by an intoxicated male who was acting extremely violently while holding two machetes. The male was ordered to drop the weapons multiple times but refused to comply. He continued to approach officers in an aggressive manner
Police used a taser on the male after he continued to ignore orders to drop the weapons. Once the male was hit with the probes he dropped the machetes and was placed under arrest.
Officers say the male continued to act aggressively after he was placed in the back of the patrol unit and continued to threaten them. He then began kicking the door of the cruiser causing damage to it.
The 37-year-old male suspect from Swan Lake First Nation was charged for his alleged involvement with Assault on Police Officer with Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Resist/Obstruct Peace Officer, Utter threats against a person x5, Possession of Weapon Contrary to Order, Intimidation, Mischief over $5000 –Damage to Property
He was detained in custody.
