Man Struck by Train in Winnipeg, Police Urge Public Caution

A 29-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by a freight train near Concordia Avenue East and Peguis Street, according to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS). The incident occurred at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Friday.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly walking along the tracks when he was hit by a westbound freight train. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded swiftly to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

The WPS Traffic Division is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. As of now, it remains unclear why the man was on the tracks at the time of the accident.

In light of this incident, the WPS is reminding the public to exercise extreme caution when their activities take them in and around active rail lines.
