A Winnipeg taxi driver is recovering in hospital after he was robbed at gunpoint and assaulted.
It happened around 11:30 pm on Friday, November 17, 2017, in the 2100 block of Gallagher Avenue. Police say that the suspect had hailed a cab at Notre Dame and Weston and when arriving on Gallagher an argument occurred between him and the driver.

The suspect then got out of the car, pulled out a gun and pointed it at the driver as he demanded money. As some point during the altercation, the driver was hit in the head with the butt of the gun and was hurt.
The 43-year-old male driver was taken to hospital in stable condition. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money before taking off on foot.
Air-1 and a K-9 unit responded and were quickly able to track the suspect to the 1400 block of Logan Avenue. The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and found to have a replica air gun and the stolen loot.
Travis Edmard Melvin Francis from Winnipeg is facing charges for his alleged involvement for Armed Robbery using a Firearm, Use of Firearm during Commission of an Indictable Offence, Pointing a Firearm and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
Francis was detained in custody.
