Man steals vehicle with a teen inside is now facing kidnapping charges

RCMP in Thompson have arrested a 34-year-old male in connection to the theft of a vehicle and kidnapping.

On Friday May 22, 2020, police responded to the report of a vehicle that had been stolen outside a Selkirk Avenue business in Thompson.

Investigators say that at the time of the theft the vehicle was running and a 14-year-old female was in the back seat.

The suspect drove a short distance then dropped the girl off on the side of the road. She was not injured.

The vehicle was equipped with On-Star and police were able to track it to an address on Laval Place in Thompson. Police along with a K-9 unit searched an apartment building and found the suspect as he was attempting to flee out a window.

Troy Jack Cameron McIvor, 34 was arrested without incident and charged with Kidnapping, Theft and Robbery for his alleged involvement.

He was detained in custody.
