Road Rage to blame?
Winnipeg Police responded to a fight in progress just after 5:00 pm Tuesday July 11, 2017.
It happened around the area of Portage Avenue and Maryland Avenue.
Responding officers found a 41 year old man in unstable condition with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. He was taken to hospital, underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.
Police also found a 36 year old female with injuries to her face. She was also taken to hospital, treated then released.
Police say that the suspects and the victims did not know each other and that the incident may have been caused by some type of “road rage”.
Soon after discovering the injured pair the Tactical Support Team located the suspects in a vehicle at Balmoral and Cumberland. Four suspects were taken into custody and now face a number of assault and drug related charges.
When officers arrested the suspects they located 5.16 grams of crack cocaine and 4.5 grams of an unidentified powder inside the suspect vehicle.
Charged with assault and drug offences for their alleged involvement are Victor Alexander Ryle, 34 from Winnipeg , Dwayne Louis Simard, 33 from Winnipeg and Chester Duane Fergus Roulette, 22 from Winnipeg.
Police also charged a 26 year old female for Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Cocaine
The three male suspects were detained in custody. The female was released on a Promise to Appear.
