A 22-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed aboard a Winnipeg Transit bus early Sunday morning.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. on April 13, 2025, officers from the Winnipeg Police Service’s West District General Patrol were called to the intersection of Morley Avenue and Hugo Street South following reports of a stabbing on a bus.
Upon arrival, police located the victim, a 22-year-old male, suffering from a serious upper-body injury caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Attending officers immediately provided emergency medical care, including the application of a tourniquet, before the injured man was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
Initial investigation by police revealed that a group of female suspects were passengers on the bus. A verbal altercation reportedly broke out between the group and a 23-year-old female. The male victim, who was known to the 23-year-old woman, intervened in the dispute. During this intervention, one of the female suspects produced a sharp-edged weapon and assaulted the 22-year-old man in his upper body.
Following the assault, all the female suspects exited the bus and fled the scene on foot.
The Winnipeg Police Service has confirmed that no arrests have been made at this time, and their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
