A 58-year-old man is in stable condition after being stabbed in downtown Winnipeg late Thursday night.
Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a call in the 300 block of Portage Avenue at approximately 10:45 p.m. on February 7, 2025. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from a serious upper-body injury. Officers provided immediate medical help before paramedics took the man to hospital. The victim was initially listed in unstable condition but his condition was later upgraded to stable.
Police say that the preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and the male suspect were involved in a verbal altercation before the stabbing. The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to develop a more detailed description of the suspect.
