Suspect stabs man then flees
In the early morning hours of Thursday June 15, 2017 RCMP responded to a report of a person being stabbed in their backyard in Niverville, about 40 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg.
When officers arrived they found a 52 year old male bleeding from an upper body stab wound.
According to police the victim heard noises coming from his garage and went to check it out. As he entered the garage he found a man inside and a struggle ensued. The suspect stabbed the victim once in the upper body then took off.
Police called in the K-9 unit and were quickly able to locate and arrest the suspect.
A young male from Niverville, age 20, was charged for his alleged involvement with Break and Enter to Commit Indictable Offence of Assault with a Weapon; Break and Enter to Commit Indictable Offence of Assault Causing Bodily Harm; and Breach of Undertaking.
The 52 year old victim remains in stable condition in a Winnipeg hospital.
Police say that the suspect and the victim know each other.
