Man shot by police in City’s North End

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) will be investigating the shooting of a man by Winnipeg Police on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

Winnipeg Police Service says that officers were responding to the report of a man with a gun in the area of Boyd Avenue and Powers Street around 12:40 pm.

Police say that the man was shot by officers within minutes of their arrival on the scene. He was taken to hospital to hospital in unstable condition.

Witnesses say that when the male was ordered to drop the weapon he refused.

Police say that none of their officers were injured during the incident.

No other details have been provided by police.
