It’s a case that could earn an Alberta man a Darwin Award.
Winnipeg Police say that on Thursday night, July 19, 2018, officers saw a pair of men running near Notre Dame and Albert Street. The area is under construction and there are a number of barricades to restrict traffic and pedestrians.
One of the running men ignored the signage and ran through the barricaded area and slammed into the side of a marked Winnipeg Police Service cruiser. Police say the man struck his upper body against the side mirror of the car.
The officers in the car got out to check on the man when the second male approached the cruiser. As the officers and the males were waiting for Emergency Medical crews to arrive the male who had hit the cruiser passed a clear baggie with a white substance to the second male. Officers took both men into custody.
Anthony Howdle, 48 from Alberta, has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance-Cocaine for his alleged involvement.
Levi Howdle, 21 from Flin Flon, Manitoba has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance-Cocaine and Fail to Comply with Conditions of Recognizance
Both Howdles were detained.
