Man killed after strong winds down a tree onto his tent

RCMP say, on July 3, 2023, a 60-year-old Winnipeg man was killed at a campground in Manigotagan.

RCMP responded to the campground around 12:20 am and learned that during a thunderstorm, strong winds toppled a large tree onto a tent where the victim and a female had been sleeping.

The tree had to be cut in order for the pair to be freed.

Police say the male victim was declared dead at the scene. The female was not physically injured.

RCMP and members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation.
