Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old male after it is alleged he defrauded eight veterinary hospitals across the city.
Police say that between May 2017 and August 2018 the suspect would take several dogs to a clinic and seek medical treatment for them under a false name. He would then “adjust the debit machine” or leave without paying.
Investigators believed he was raising dogs for sale.
It is estimated that the businesses lost more than $5,200.
Hazem Nafez Alsaadi, 29 from Winnipeg turned himself in to police on December 9, 2018. He has been charged with eight counts of Fraud under $5,000 and detained in custody.
