A 50-year-old male is recovering after he was hit by a machete while confronting alleged thieves.

According to police, on the late evening of December 29, 2022, a number of suspects went to the victim’s home and stole Christmas lights from his property. The victim got in his vehicle and followed the thieves to the first 100 block of Higgins Avenue where he confronted them.

During the confrontation one of the group produced a machete and hit the victim in the upper body. Two other suspects then stole the victim’s vehicle and fled the area. The remainder of the group, including the suspect armed with the machete, fled the area on foot.
