30 year old Winnipeg man charged

Family and friends are shocked and sad as they learned of the death of 21 year old Christine Wood.

Wood went missing  after she left the hotel she was staying in last August 19, 2016. She was in town from Oxford House First Nation to attend a medical appointment. That evening she went out but never returned to her hotel.

Investigators say that she was last seen in the area around Polo Park. 

An intense search and social media campaign pleaded for any information on the disappearance of the young woman.

In March Winnipeg Police spent several days searching a home of  30 year old Brett Ronald Overby on Burrows Avenue.

Last night police arrested and charged Overby with second degree murder in the death of Wood.

Police are being tight lipped about what led them to Overby or if they recovered the remains of Wood but have said they will release more information on Monday.
