RCMP have released more information on the double homicide in the RM of Tache early Thursday morning, March 25, 2021.
Police were called to a rural home on River Road around 1:15 am for a disturbance that turned out to be a break-in in progress. When officers arrived they found the bodies of a 77-year-old male and a 73-year-old female.
While police were investigating they learned that a suspicious male had been seen in the area. Officers began to search for the man and located the male walking along Highway 59. The man was arrested by officers.
Police also located a stolen vehicle that they believe was connected to the man located at Highway 59 and Provincial Road 210.
Police have charged 27-year-old Karlton Dean Reimer from Steinbach with two counts of Second Degree Murder. He was detained in custody.
Investigators still have not found any connection between the accused and the victims.
RCMP continue to investigate.
