A 40-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged for the abduction and sexual assault of a teenage female say investigators with the Winnipeg Police Service.
The incident happened on the evening of September 24, 2023, when the victim was walking in the 3000 block of Portage Avenue and abducted at knifepoint. Police say that she was taken to an undisclosed location and sexually assaulted multiple times over several hours.
The teen was eventually able to flee and used a passerby’s cell phone to call police who responded to the victim’s location in the Spence neighbourhood around 11:40 pm on September 25, 2023.
Investigators from the Sex Crimes Unit were able to identify a suspect and take him into custody.

- Mischief Under $5000/Obstruct in Enjoyment
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Whalan was detained in custody.
