Winnipeg Police has charged a 30-year-old man for placing and setting off explosives at a home in the 100 block of Wordsworth Way.
Police say that between June 21 and August 21, 2023, several explosive devices and remnants were found by the victim and area residents. It was determined by investigators that the devices had been deliberately placed on the property and detonated. No injuries were reported according to police.
A male suspect was identified and investigators say the suspect and victim are known to each other. Police do not believe the incidents are random.
On September 7, 2023, the suspect was arrested while he was in a vehicle in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Harcourt Street residence and seized various items associated with making explosive devices.
Aaron Colby Lavallee of Winnipeg was charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Causing an Explosion Likely to Cause Bodily Harm, Death, or Serious Damage x 3
- Unlawful Possession of Explosives x 3
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order x 13
- Possession of Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Scheduled Substance (Cocaine)
Lavallee was detained in custody.
