Man attempts to abduct 8 year old boy

Winnipeg Police are looking for a suspect that attempted to abduct an 8-year-old boy in the 200 block of Booth Drive.

It happened just after 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, when the boy and his grandfather were walking down the stairwell in their apartment building. According to police, the pair were approached by a man who asked for the time. The grandfather and grandson continued to walk down the stairs when the man began to swear at them and then chase them to the basement. Once in the basement the suspect threatened the senior and attempted to grab the boy. They were able to make their escape and run into the parking garage.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. He is described as a Caucasian male between 25 and 30 years old. He stands 6’2″ tall and weighs about 250 lbs. He has short wavy hair and blue eyes. He was wearing an orange coloured shirt with a black stripe and tan coloured pants.
