Man Arrested with Sawed-Off Shotgun

Winnipeg Police Service arrested a man Saturday morning, January 11, 2025, after discovering a sawed-off shotgun in a taxi.

Officers were investigating a serious incident in the 500 block of Furby Street when they interviewed a potential suspect in a taxi parked in front of the address. During the investigation, officers located a 12-gauge shotgun with an obliterated serial number within the taxi. A round of 12-gauge ammunition was also found on the man.

Further investigation determined the man was not involved in the initial incident being investigated.

The 22-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested and faces several firearms charges, including:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Transport Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With

He was released on an Appearance Notice as per the Criminal Code.
