Winnipeg Police have arrested a man in connection with a commercial break-in and vehicle theft.
On January 11, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., North District General Patrol officers observed an individual matching the description of a suspect wanted in connection with a break-in at a business in the 100 block of Watson Street. The incident occurred the previous day.
When officers attempted to speak with the suspect, he fled on foot. A short pursuit ensued, and the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Joseph Christopher COLOSIMO, was apprehended.
The investigation revealed that Colosimo is also suspected of stealing a 2021 Ford Transit 350 valued at approximately $28,000 from an autobody shop in the 1000 block of Arlington Street between January 9 and 10.
On January 10, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Colosimo allegedly used the stolen vehicle to ram the front entrance of a car wash in the 100 block of Watson Street. He then entered the building and stole the business’s cash register, containing currency and gift cards.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered unoccupied in the 200 block of Austin Street North.
Colosimo has been charged with Break, Enter & Theft – Place, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, and Breach of Probation. He remains in custody.
