WPS have arrested and charged 25-year-old Gunni Abdi Hassan with second degree murder following a shooting on Garry Street last month.
Two people were injured in the incident; one who recovered and 30-year-old Abdulwasi Ahmed who succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The arrest was made on March 14, 2022, by members of the WPS Homicide Unit and Tactical Support Team at a residence in the first 100 block of Hargrave Street.
Investigators say they believe the accused and the deceased were associated with criminal organizations in the city. It is unknown if they knew each other at the time of the killing; however, the shooting is believed to be gang motivated.
