A 20-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged following a series of incidents early this morning, including a violent outburst at a fast food restaurant on Pembina Highway.
At approximately 6:10 a.m. on February 7, 2025, Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a call at a restaurant in the 2800 block of Pembina Highway. Upon arrival, they arrested a 20-year-old man who had allegedly been causing a disturbance and destroying property.
Investigation revealed the suspect entered the restaurant in an agitated state, threatened to kill employees, and caused significant damage. He also allegedly threw a garbage receptacle, striking a 65-year-old female employee in the lower body. She sustained a minor injury but did not require medical attention. The damage to the restaurant is estimated to be over $10,000.
During the arrest, the suspect provided multiple false names to police and refused to disclose his true identity.
Further investigation, with the assistance of North District General Patrol officers, linked the suspect to three additional mischief incidents that occurred earlier in the morning:
- At 5:37 a.m., a vehicle in a parking lot in the 100 block of Alleghehy Drive was damaged.
- At 5:49 a.m., the front window of a business in the 2800 block of Pembina Highway was shattered, causing over $5,000 in damage.
- At 5:50 a.m., another vehicle was damaged in a parking lot in the 2700 block of Pembina Highway.
The 20-year-old man of Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (x2), obstructing a peace officer, mischief over $5,000, and mischief under $5,000/obstruct in enjoyment (x2). He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
