Man arrested after shooting a rifle and driving while intoxicated

A 41-year-old male is in custody after police responded to shots fired near Libau, Manitoba.

Just after 1:00 am on Monday, June 15, 2020, Selkirk RCMP received a report that a male who appeared to be intoxicated had driven to an area about six kilometres north of Libau, fired a weapon then left in his vehicle.

Officers spotted the vehicle a short distance away and initiated a high risk traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle located a rifle and ammunition. In inspecting the firearm officers found a spent casing in the chamber.

Police say a breath analysis indicated that the driver was nearly twice over the legal limit for alcohol.

Jason Shore, from Stenibach, was charged for his alleged involvement with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Operation of a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Level Over 80 mg%, Discharging a Firearm while being Reckless, Careless Use of a Firearm and several other firearm related offences.
