Man arrested after pointing firearm at security guard and police tactical support officers

A 29-year-old man is facing a number of weapon, robbery and uttering threats charges after he pointed a firearm at security and police officers.

It happened on Monday, October 2, 2017, in the 300 block of Kennedy Street. A security guard came across the male attempting to gain entry into a building. When the man was refused to be let in he pointed a handgun at the security guard and threatened to shoot him. The suspect then tried to rob the guard but he was able to escape and call the police.

As officers from the Tactical Support Team responded they saw the suspect at Kennedy and Ellice. The suspect then pointed a firearm at the officers still in their patrol unit. They stopped and the suspect fled while still pointing the gun at them.
