Man and Woman Die in Early Morning Shooting

A man and woman have died following an early morning shooting in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue. Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a call at approximately 4:15 a.m. on February 15, 2025, where they discovered two individuals suffering from upper body injuries.

Officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and the Canine Unit, located an adult male outside the residence and an adult female inside. Both victims received emergency medical care at the scene before being transported to a hospital in critical condition. Tragically, both individuals later succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Sheldon Derrach Catcheway and 35-year-old Shanastene Irene McLeod. Catcheway was a member of Swan Lake First Nation and resided in Winnipeg. McLeod was a member of Muskowekwan First Nation in Saskatchewan and also resided in Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Next of kin notifications have been completed.
