Male suffers serious injury in Flora Avenue attack

Winnipeg Police are investigating a stabbing that happened in the 500 block of Flora Avenue around 8:30 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

A 29-year-old male was attacked in the street by a male armed with what police describe as an edged weapon. The victim, suffering from a serious upper-body injury, made his way to a business at the corner of Selkirk Avenue and McGregor Street to seek help.

When officers arrived on the scene they provided emergency medical care by applying a tourniquet to help stabilize the victim. The male was taken to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

Police cordoned off the area between Selkirk Avenue at McGregor Street south to Flora Avenue and along Flora to halfway down the block.

The attack is being investigated by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477.

No arrests have been made at this time say police.
