Female in her 20s among 19 deaths reported due to COVID-19

Manitoba Public Health reported 19 additional deaths on Saturday, December 5, 2020, related to COVID-19 including:

  • a female in her 20s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 60s from the Northern health region, linked to the outbreak at The Pas Hospital Acute Care;
  • a male in his 60s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Oakview Place personal care home;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Park Manor Care;
  • a male in his 70s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at St. Norbert Personal Care Home;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at St. Norbert Personal Care Home;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Park Manor Care;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Holy Family Home;
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at St. Norbert Personal Care Home;
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Park Manor Care;
  • a male in his 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home; and
  • a female in her 100s from the Winnipeg region, linked to the outbreak at Holy Family Home.

354 new cases of the virus have been identified today with the current provincial five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate at 13.1. in Winnipeg the rate is 14.1. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is now 18,423.

Data from public health shows that of the cases identified today 32 are from the Interlake-Eastern health region, 31 from Northern health region, 12 from the Prairie Mountain health region, 44 from Southern Health region and 235 from the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 9,115 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 8,927 people are reported to have recovered from the virus.

349 individuals are currently being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital of which 51 of those are in intensive care.

The total number of deaths from the virus has now risen to 381.

Yesterday 2,981 tests were completed bringing the total number of lab tests that have been completed since early February 2020, to 369,154.

Officials from public health report that outbreaks have been declared at the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre in Beausejour and Greendale Estate Assisted Living Facility in Grunthal.

Flight Information

The chief provincial public health officer urges Manitobans to only leave their homes for essential purposes. When leaving the house to obtain essentials, be sure to physically distance, wear a mask in indoor public places and avoid crowded spaces. Do not leave the home if you are sick, or when any member of your family is sick. Further, do not socialize with anyone from outside your household.

Public health officials are also advising that anyone who is symptomatic or has a household member who is symptomatic, the entire household needs to self-isolate pending COVID-19 test results.
