Male found laying on Notre Dame Avenue after being assaulted

Winnipeg Police Service is investigating an assault after a male in his 20s was found laying in the roadway on Notre Dame Avenue just before 1:00 am on Saturday, December 11, 2021.

Paramedics took the victim to hospital in critical condition but he has since been upgraded to stable.

The male had what appeared to be puncture wounds to his back and had been bleeding significantly. A blood trail led from where the victim was found across the street and into a neighbouring residential area.

Police used a K-9 unit to search the area along with members from the Tactical Support Unit.

Notre Dame Avenue was closed in both directions between Toronto Street and Beverley Street while police investigated.

No charges have been laid at this time and officers continue to investigate.
