Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old male in connection to multiple reports of vehicle damage in the west district of the city.
Police say that Between December 2021 and February 2022, dozens of parked vehicles were damaged mostly in the St. James and Fort Garry areas. Rows of vehicles had their windows smashed out.
Police investigated the incidents and on February 6, officers noticed a number of vehicles had recently been damaged in the King Edward neighbourhood. Air-1 was called in to assist and was able to located a vehicle driving in the area.
A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was taken into custody.
Police say the male is facing 130 charges for Mischief to Property and was released on an undertaking as mandated by the Canadian Criminal Code.
Police say they believe the suspect acted alone and did not know any of the victims.
