Gun seized after man allegedly shoots towards a home

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) have arrested and charged a 23-year-old male in connection to a shooting incident on Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation.

Police say that on June 29, 2019, they were called to a home in the community regarding a male shooting a firearm towards a residence.

As officers arrived on scene they were told that the suspect had run into the nearby bush.

MFNPS K-9 init was called in and located the suspect and a 12 gauge shotgun. A search of the man uncovered three additional shells for the weapon.

On July 3, 2019, officers along with the police service dog executed a search warrant at the suspects home and located Air Soft weapons, ammunition for a .22 calibre weapon, a pellet gun, bullet proof vest and a replica C11 Handgun.

Brice Quinton Tacan has been charged for his alleged involvement with ten counts of Point Firearm, Discharge Air Gun / Pistol with Intent, two counts of Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, Aggravated Assault, Utter Threats, three counts Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace, three counts of Breach of Probation and six counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance Order.

Tacan was remanded in custody.

The investigation continues.
