Male arrested after man found stabbed in Kennedy Street elevator

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 39-year-old male in connection to a stabbing in a Kennedy Street apartment building.

Police say they were called to the building in the 400 block around 6:15 pm on Tuesday, March 1 after an injured male in his 50s was found lying inside an elevator.

Officers provided emergency medical care until paramedics arrived and transported the male to hospital in critical condition. He was later upgraded to stable.

As the investigation unfolded a crime scene was discovered inside a suite.

Carl George Wescoupe was taken from the suite and placed into custody. He has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon, two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order and two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order.

Wescoupe was detained in custody.
